He is a past member of the American Bar Association - Family Law Division, both the American and Ohio Trial Lawyers Associations, and served as an officer of the Fairfield County Trial Lawyers Association. He is a current member of the Ohio State Bar Association and Fairfield County Bar Association, belonging to various committees including the Domestic Relations Committee. Lee is licensed to practice law in all courts of Ohio and the U.S. District Courts of Ohio, both the Southern and Northern districts.

Lee has presented seminars on Domestic Relations. He also did an instructional video conference on domestic violence at Ohio University-Lancaster and a training video for Hospice of Fairfield County. He has served as a Judge for the Ohio High School Moot Court competitions over the years and has been active in the pro bono legal clinic in Fairfield County.

In 1994, he served on every committee in the formation of the new family law court in Fairfield County. He has served thousands of clients and appeared in thousands of hearings over the years but his philosophy regarding trial is that it is to be used as a last resort. As an advocate representing his clients, he views his role as one of facilitating settlement in every case while at the same time preparing for trial.

Lee has experience in various legal fields to provide his clients effective representation, always keeping in mind, it is the client that gives him the privilege of representing him or her. Lee understands he is there to provide legal advice but also recognizes it is the client that makes all final decisions. Therefore, it is essential the client be kept informed of his or her case as communication remains the key to decisions made regarding the cases of his clients.

Since 1984 he has been serving the people of Fairfield County and surrounding communities as an advocate to those in need of representation in all courts in Ohio.

Lee lives in the Lancaster area with his wife, Dawn, and daughter, Anna.
        Lee A Thompson received his Bachelor of Science degree from Kent State University. While working on his Masterʼs degree he was accepted to law school at the University of Akron. He received his Juris Doctorate in 1983. Following graduation, he opened two law offices. Several months later he accepted a position as managing attorney of the Lancaster office for a Columbus law firm, a position he held for more than twenty years. In 2005, Lee returned to private practice, forming the Law Office of Lee A Thompson.

Over the years his primary focus has been in all aspects of family law but he has also maintained an ever expanding general practice to better serve the needs of his clients. In addition to practicing law, he served on numerous public and civic boards.
        Margina Seals has worked with Lee since 2000 as his legal assistant. Over the years she has developed a strong working knowledge to deal with the stresses people naturally face in times of personal crisis and is very helpful to clients. Utilizing the assistance and skills of Margie can reduce fees and keep you informed of your case. While Margie is not permitted by law to answer legal questions, her vast experience working with the Court, other attorneys and clients will be beneficial to you.
